About Our School
St. Martin of Tours was built in 1966 under the scenic Niagara Escarpment. The two acre site located on Gray Road near King Street and the Bruce Trail provides many learning opportunities for students and staff alike.
St. Martin's opened with a staff of only nine teachers, yet has housed as many as 600 students at one time.
The school has been blessed with many dedicated principals over the years, beginning with Eugene Mazur. His successors include: Mr. William McMurray, Mr. Leo Murray, Mr. Tom Stoneburgh, Mrs. Joanne Naidus, Mr. Lou Giancarlo, Ms. Fran Marini, Mr. Lino Pin, Mrs. Sandra Pizzuti, Mrs. Olga Scheer, Mrs. Andreja Farkas, Mr. Sam Agro, and currently Mrs. Loretta Piro-Cinelli.
We are proud of a number of recent accomplishments including our Gold Eco Certification for the last few years. Our school was recognized in March 2012 with the Garfield Weston Awards for Excellence in Education for Overall Academic Achievement and again in November 2012 as a School of Distinction in the area of Mathematics and Language Arts.
With a staff of over 25 educators and a student population of about 300, we continue to carry on the St.Martin tradition of cherishing the blessings Our Lord bestows on our community. The legacy of our patron saint is one of charity and sacrifice as he gave up his cloak to clothe a less fortunate man. We continually strive to impart his example on those around us by reaching out to groups in need and being of service to those around us through food drives, initiatives such as Bags to School Clothing drives, and Mental Wellness Awareness events.
We are so blessed to be able to Live our faith on a daily basis through our partnership with our pastor Fr. Mariusz alongside the many parents and grandparents who support our Catholic identity.
