The Hamilton Fire Department (HFD) has developed a series of “Fire Safety Friday” messages for students and caregivers, as part of its Elementary School Fire Safety Education Program Initiative.
This week’s message highlights smoke alarms and their role in keeping people safe. If the smoke alarm sounds, everyone should get outside. Stay outside until a grown-up says it is safe to go back inside.Click here for this week’s activity.Caregiver information:Don’t wait – Check the date!
Smoke alarms don’t last forever. On average, most need to be replaced every ten years. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s date on your smoke alarms and replaced any that have expired.
The fire safety message and affiliated content is derived from the Hamilton Fire Department, Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal, and the National Fire Prevention Association.
